Changi Airport
Singapore Changi Airport is not just somewhere to get on and off a plane; it is a resort in itself and a popular changeover and transit airport. The good people of Singapore have ensured that waiting for your connection needn`t be a bore; indeed, many are disappointed when it is time to board and fly away as there is so much to see and do at Changi Airport. Even 24 hours is not enough time here.
Of course, principally it is an airport and getting to and from any port easily without stress is always top of the agenda. You can drive yourself there and park in one of the six car parks, or choose one of the other options to arrive. An airport shuttle is available, as well as the public bus service 36, which goes to and from the airport.
Take the free shuttle bus to Sengkang, Toa Payoh MRT stations Ang Mo Kio and Changi Business Park or choose one of the readily available taxis. A Transfer Cross-Border coach service has been introduced, making it even easier to get to a variety of destinations or you can plump for car rental, available within the airport.
Once at the airport you have a range of facilities to choose from. The shopping opportunities would put many a high street to shame, with the amount and range of retailers on offer. But if shopping is not your thing, don`t worry, as you won`t have a chance to get bored whilst you wait for your plane!
You can relax in one of the many bars or cafes, perhaps hooking up to the free internet to get a little business done, or if you need peace and quiet, disappear to one of the designated areas. If you need to chill out, there are several Foot and Calf Massage Stations where you can be pampered for free, ensuring you board the plane as relaxed as possible For something a little different, have a fish micro-massage therapy session at the Fish Spa and Reflexology. Follow this with a quick shower for the ultimate refreshment.
If you are looking for some entertainment, head to the Entertainment Deck for a free Xbox and Playstation 3 session, always a hit with the kids and the young at heart. If you prefer to get back to nature, Changi Airport offer their own Butterfly Garden, a world first, or take a look at one of the other themed gardens, such as the Cactus Garden or one of the koi ponds. If you fancy a bit more activity, take a swim in the rooftop pool, or enjoy a movie for free in the Movie Theatre. If you have time, you can join a free tour of Singapore.
The airport also puts on regular events and there are a fund of activities and areas for kids to enjoy. If all this fails to tempt you and you just want some sleep, go to one of the resting areas or book into the transit hotel for full on comfort. Singapore Changi Airport is a self contained village, so whether you are aiming for Sydney, London or one of the Bangkok hotels, fine dining, retail therapy, relaxation and fun are all close at hand.
