Comfort Taxi SHB6663S – Lying to rip people off

08 Oct 2013   Melanie | Taxi Company: Comfort Taxi

“I just arrived on Mohamed Sultan road were I was waiting for a taxi, as I do every day. It is very easy to have taxi there at that time of the day and rarely wait for more than 30 seconds to get a blue or yellow cab (which I noticed are cheaper and very good).

The limousine was parked next to me but I wasn’t interested in it because I know that they are more expensive, and I can easily get a cheaper car by waiting 30 secs. The driver got out of the car and come to me to offer to bring me to my destination. I refused mentioning that it was more expensive. He told me “”No, it’s just a better car but it’s the same price””. As I was unaware of the cost per meter, I at least pointed out that the initial fare was 3.90 versus 3.20 only for many other cab, or even less for older cars. So he responded “”don’t worry for the initial fare, I do the same price for you””. As there was no one else waiting for cabs and he seemed to be desperate, I felt a bit sorry for him and as he had offered me the same price as a normal car, I accepted and got in the car. When I told him my destination and we started running, he started complaining that it was very far, and so he wouldn’t give me the same prize because it’s a big journey and for such a big journey it’s normal that I pay more (Mohamed Sultan – MBFC, at 10.30 am is a “”Big journey””?!) Then he said it’s not true that the other car were cheaper anyway. Also He did not put the amount he charged on the screen, so I couldn’t see how much I was being charged until I arrived. When I arrived, he told me the prize 6.9. I do that journey at the same time every day and I pay on average 5 dollars (from 4.6 up to 5.80 if it rains and there is traffic … but no traffic, no rain today). I complained it was 2 dollars more expensive that my usual fare and reminded him he said he would give me the same prize, to which he replied “”don’t care””. I paid cash but asked for a receipt. He told me “”I can’t give you a receipt, it’s too late already””. then I took a picture of his taxi number, and when he realized he said “”Ok OK, no need, I give you a receipt”” and he gave it to me. (So he was lying again when he told me he couldn’t give me a receipt).

I was lied to and ripped off by this taxi driver and I am extremely upset about it and about encountering that kind of dishonesty in Singapore. I feel this kind of individuals give an terrible image of an otherwise reliable and trustworthy taxi company. I have already decided that unless there is absolutely no other choice, I will avoid using this company from now on.”

06 Oct 2013   Rei | Taxi Company: Yellow-Top Taxi

“The incident happen at the carpark of teck whye lane near blk 18, on 6th Oct, ard 8.20am.

I was at the side of the road , waiting for the cars to clear to cross the road; the road cleared, I began crossing. A few steps later, A yellow-top taxi came out of sudden from behind, made a dangerous left turn, just right in front of me. it was very fortunate that i instinctively took 2 steps back, and I narrowly escape injury. Stunned, I stood still for a few seconds , and saw the taxi – driver turning to me and start making rude gestures before driving off . I managed to take a picture of the back of his taxi upon recovering my composure.

There is no way this driver did not see me as he is coming from the back. I was wearing white top and it’s a clear sunny morning.

I will have 2nd thoughts taking yellow top cabs in future. “

“The male driver who is a Malay is very understanding and accommodating. I have left a work file during audits in a nursing home.

He used the best route from work place to destination and waited for me to obtain my work file from the care staff in the nursing home.

Some drivers may not wish to wait.”

CityCab SH4990E – NIGHTMARE

03 Oct 2013   Su | Taxi Company: CityCab

“To the officers in charge,

Hi,

I’ve made a cab booking on Tuesday,01/10/2013 at 2130hrs via phone booking. It took me at least an hour to wait for a cab at the golden landmark taxi stand(golden landmark bugis hotel) before i decided to make a call booking and through the aps at the same time.

Again,it took quite a while for me to get my booking confirmed..I then make my way to other taxi stands and decided that I would have to go to the bugis taxi stand.I finally received a confirmation on my mobile while I was on my way there . I rushed once I received the confirmation of Comfort Hyundai Sonata SH4990,I believed the driver’s name is Muhammad Zakaria(not certain of the spelling though) as confirmed by the operator,Ms Mary.

When I finally got there(the taxi stand, and it was just like a 3 minutes walking distance) I actually saw the driver took other passengers. And I actually have to run after that cab ! Of course I missed the cab because he had drove off with OTHER PASSENGERS WITHOUT EVEN CALLING ME IN THE FIRST PLACE & BEFORE HE COULD DECIDE TO CANCEL MINE!

Don’t drivers usually call the passengers first once arrived and to confirm before he could make any decision or cancel the booking?

Prime Taxi shc6017c – nice

“I left my phone on his taxi, and the driver was good enough to give it back when I called

SMRT Taxis SHB902S – Dangerous rude driver

02 Oct 2013   yiren | Taxi Company: SMRT Taxis

“I flagged down the above-mentioned SMRT Taxi plate no. SHB 902 S along AMK Ave 4, infront of Blk 163. I told the driver, Mr Wong, to go to Golden Village Yishun.

Shortly after Mr Wong started to drive, I heard him talking to someone on the phone using his earpiece. I didn’t think much of it as phone calls using earpiece while driving is apparently allowed in S’pore. He was telling his friend that there was a “fashion cruise event at marina”, how there will surely be “a lot of people”, he told his friend to “go there 10pm”. He ended the call. It was then that I realized he had a tablet on his lap. He lifted his tablet from his lap with his left hand, turned power saver, flipped the tablet cover, placed the tablet back on his lap and finally his left hand returned to the steering wheel. All that time he was driving with only his right hand.

I was concerned about our safety but at that point I let the matter go because he had ended the call, turned off the tablet, continued driving and nothing happened. I thought to myself that should he do it again, I’d have to voice my concern. And true enough, he did it again!

Along AMK Ave 6, he once again drove on with only his right hand on the steering wheel while his left hand was busy lifting his tablet from his lap, flipped the cover open. Then he placed the tablet on top of the steering wheel, the thumbs and forefingers of both hands held the tablet while the other 3 fingers of both hands held the steering wheel below!! He continued driving like that while he turned the tablet on, scrolled through his contact list, one hand off the steering again to plug in one side of his earpiece. All this while balancing the tablet on top of the steering wheel. Imagine the amount of time and his attention that was taken away from the road while he was fiddling with his tablet. Thus, I had to request him to only drive. Our conversation went like this :

Me: Ermm, Mr Wong. It’s Mr Wong right? (I didn’t want to get his name wrong)

Mr Wong : Ah, what??

Me: Could you just drive? Just drive and not use your tablet?

Mr Wong : Oh, no, no, no! I got message. I using earpiece. I tell you what, ah. You go down here ah. I got other place to go.

I spoke calmly and nicely to him. He replied in a rude tone, no apology for putting us both in danger, bet he didn’t think he did anything wrong at all, and HE CHASED ME OUT OF HIS TAXI !!

He stopped at bus stop no. 55171, infront of Castle Green condo. I didn’t argue because I too felt that I should get off his taxi due to his dangerous driving and arrogance.”

Comfort Taxi SHA7022R – Uncle, you made Singapore proud.

02 Oct 2013   Mr Que | Taxi Company: Comfort Taxi

“May I have this opportunity to compliment this Chinese driver for his sincere service towards his passengers.
It was my aunt taxi trip from Khoo Teck Phuat hospital to Yishun. My aunt is just like any other sick patient who is suffering stroke and will tend to be forgetful with things and in term of memory. She had left the cab without her purse to join us at the coffee shop for dinner. However, while in the midst of the dinner, the taxi driver came back with the purse and return it to my aunt. I am very impressed with his good service and would appreciate if your company could hand out a compliment to this man. He had showed us that the locals still make us proud. Cheers. “
