Singapore to Malaysia Taxi
Contents
Singapore is one of the few countries that you can enter or leave by taxi. While normal taxis are not allowed to cross into Malaysia, specially licensed Singaporean taxis permitted to go to (only) Larkin Taxi & Bus Terminal with effect from 1 Nov 2014 (previously Kotaraya Taxi Stand near JB City Square) may be booked from Johor Taxi Service, while Malaysian taxis, which can go anywhere in Malaysia, may only be taken from Ban San St. Taxi Kiosk at Rochor Rd.
In the reverse direction, towards Singapore, you can take taxis from Larkin Taxi & Bus Terminal in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to any point in central Singapore or Changi Airport. The main advantage here is that you do not need to lug your stuff (or yourself) through Customs at both ends; you can just sit in the car. This service is available 24 hours a day.
The “basic” direct taxi service from the Singapore Taxi Terminal at Queen Street (5 mins walk away from Bugis MRT) to the Johor Bahru Taxi Terminal at Larkin (previously Pasar Bakti Kotaraya II) costs S$12 per person or S$48 per taxi vehicle departing from Singapore and vice-versa.
If you want to take a taxi from Ban Street Taxi Terminal (Queen Street near Bugis MRT) to somewhere other than the terminal in Johor Bahru, you have to use a Malaysian (yellow) taxi, and the price will be at least S$70 (depending on distance and destination). Likewise, if you want to take a taxi from Larkin Taxi & Bus Terminal to anywhere in Singapore, you need to use a Singaporean taxi and pay at least S$70 for the service.
Taxis can also be booked to bring you from anywhere in Singapore to Larkin Taxi & Bus Terminal, or from anywhere in JB to Ban Street Taxi Terminal on Queen St. ☎ +65 6535 3534 (Singapore) or ☎ +603 2630 8400 (Malaysia), and be sure to get the taxi’s number, driver’s name and his phone number.
A combination ride from anywhere in Singapore to anywhere in Malaysia can also be arranged, but you’ll need to swap cabs halfway through: this will cost S$80 or more, paid to the Singaporean taxi driver who will arrange with his Malaysian taxi counterpart to wait at Larkin.
The more convenient and seamless option is to take a private limousine specially licensed to take passengers from any point to any destination, but only a few are available and prices starts from S$100 to Johor Bahru city. Advance booking is highly recommended at ☎ +65 6535 3534 (Singapore) or +603 2630 8400 (Malaysia).

Disadvantages of taking the Singapore-Malaysia Taxi
- You might be stuck in the traffic jam at peak hours (unless you travel by rail or plane).
- Cost a little more as compared to Public Bus or Walking.
- Need to negotiate taxi fare with drivers when traveling to places outside Ban San St or Larkin Terminal as there are no fixed rates.
